ASTRO: Outreach boosts radiation therapy rates for blacks
September 26, 2016 -- BOSTON - A patient outreach program essentially eliminated the treatment gap between the number of black and white patients who received radiation therapy for early-stage lung cancer, according to a paper presented on Monday at the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) meeting.
Breast shielding doesn't affect DNA damage from CT
September 26, 2016 -- The use of breast shields during coronary CT angiography studies in women had no effect on the amount of DNA damage patients sustained during exams, but it did degrade image quality, according to a new study in the October issue of Radiology.

MR/TRUS fusion biopsy targets high-risk prostate cancer
September 20, 2016 -- Targeted prostate biopsies guided by fused MR and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) images can detect more cases of aggressive prostate cancer than traditional systematic biopsies guided by TRUS alone, according to a multicenter study published recently in Urologic Oncology: Seminars and Original Investigations.
